Photographing people requires skills different from just being able to take a picture. It involves good people skills and the ability to put you at ease. A tense subject makes for a tense photograph. In the era of universal availability of camera equipment, anybody with sufficient funds can purchase equipment and declare themselves a photographer. However, professional photography does not come from camera equipment. Actually, the final results depend mostly on the person behind the camera.

To be a successful photographer, it takes a critical eye to judge the scenery. Even before a professional photographer picks up the camera to shoot the picture, they already have an image of what they want to photograph in their mind.

To perform professional photography, it takes significant experience. Good photographers know that to take good pictures, they have to understand how to best use the existing light and if good existing light is not suitable for photography, then only to supplement it with external light sources. Often inexperienced photographers mount a flash on the camera and shoot indiscriminately, ruining the natural, wonderful setting of an event.

I have developed my photography skills over years by photographing very different kind of people in very different kind of settings, with a variety of camera equipment. The reaction to my pictures ranges from "Wow" to "I am stunned!"
